“Fustis erectus”: the sarcastic relic
Fustis erectus—“upright club / raised baton", sounds like the name of an extinct species… or a lingering symptom. The artwork points to how violence shapes societies, from ancient times to the systems that normalize it, wrap it in procedure, and call it “order.” A skull pierced and left to melt into time: like an artifact displayed in a future museum, silent proof of a brutality we learned to institutionalize. This piece is deliberately sarcastic, a violent souvenir of our era, meant to end up in the archives so it can be examined, understood… and never repeated.
